Pentax Spotmatic SP II Reviews
Posted by Bengt Köhler Sandberg 2012-07-08 Made by the Asahi Optical Co. Ltd, later known as Pentax Corporation. Manufactured: 1971-1976 Technical info -All mechanical shutter: 1/1000s to 1s and Bulb -Flash sync (1/60 sec) -Self-timer -Through the lens exposure metering system The Spotmatic SP II added the following features to the Spotmatic SP - Switch for hot shoe (FP and X) - Roller on film door for better tracking of film - Improved shutter - Modified self timer - Modified meter and switch (greater EV range) - Increased ASA range - Shape of top cover - Brighter view finder Viewfinder: Great viewfinder, it's big and bright. Build quality: Like a rock and every thinga have a really nice feel to it. Lenses: Uses M42 screw mount. You can find hole range of old nice lenses for this. Conclusion: One of the best m42 cameras you can find! Great viewfinder, solid as a rock and it just feels great to use. Not too heavy also. Light meter works good with today's batteries but have found these old light meters to be a bit unreliable in low light situations. This is better then the older SP but still not as good as newer cameras (80s and newer) Thumbs up: All mechanical shutter Good viewfinder Reliable Solid Thumbs down: Light meter don't work well in low light Want to help
